Data last updated November 2026 · Our methodology

Overview

MailerSend is a transactional messaging service built by the MailerLite team and launched in October 2020. It sends app-triggered messages such as password resets, receipts and notifications. Developers can send through a REST API or an SMTP relay, and non-technical staff can design templates in a drag-and-drop builder. Paid plans from Hobby up add bulk emailing. Starter and higher plans add an SMS API for the USA and Canada, and a WhatsApp add-on is available. Accounts include user roles, sender identities, webhooks, blocklist monitoring and DMARC monitoring. Pricing is volume-based. The Free plan covers 500 emails a month. Hobby costs $7 a month for 5,000 emails. Starter, at about $35 a month, and Professional, at about $110 a month, each include 50,000 emails, with Starter rising to $68 for 100,000. Overage is charged per 1,000 emails. Paid add-ons cover longer activity retention, email verification credits, phone numbers, DMARC monitors and dedicated IPs. Integrations target developers and automation tools: Zapier, Make, Pipedream, Laravel, Django, Rails, Symfony, Supabase, Firebase, WordPress, WooCommerce, Magento, WHMCS and AI coding tools through an MCP server. It suits startups, SaaS products and agencies that need reliable system email with clear volume pricing. The main limitation for marketing buyers is that it is not a full campaign platform, and its sister product MailerLite covers that role. Reviewers also report sudden throttling or suspensions when bounce or complaint thresholds are crossed. Activity history on lower plans is very short.

Who MailerSend is best for

Good fit

  • REST API, SMTP relay, webhooks and SDKs for Laravel, Django, Rails and Symfony.

  • Built for app-triggered messages like password resets, receipts and notifications.

  • A free tier, a $7 Hobby plan, and API, SMTP and framework SDKs fit early-stage product teams.

  • Multiple domains, domain spaces and user roles help agencies manage client sending.

  • Prices are affordable and the template builder works for non-developers, but the focus is transactional email.

Less suited

  • WooCommerce and Magento integrations support order receipts and notifications.

  • Dedicated IPs and the Professional account manager help at scale, but published caps and short retention limit larger buyers.

  • A free tier and a 7 USD Hobby plan make it cheap for solo developers.

  • Mid-Market
    6/10

Professional plan with user roles and DMARC monitoring suits growing volumes.

  • It mainly covers system email rather than campaign marketing.
