Overview

WebEngage is a Mumbai-based customer engagement and retention platform founded in 2011. It combines a customer data layer, called CDPx, with event analytics covering funnels, cohorts, paths, and retention. On top of that sit live segmentation, journey automation, web and app personalization, and product recommendations. Campaigns go out from one composer across about fifteen channels, including email, SMS, WhatsApp, RCS, mobile and web push, in-app messages, digital ads, IVR, and chatbots. Newer AI features include the Atlas AI studio and an autonomous campaign agent called BLACK. The vendor says it serves more than 900 brands and sends over 60 billion messages a month, mostly to B2C companies in e-commerce, fintech, insurance, and similar sectors across India, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. Pricing is not published. The pricing page asks buyers to book a demo, and third-party listings report no free trial, so it fits mid-market and enterprise marketing teams better than small businesses. The vendor lists ISO 27001, ISO 27701, SOC, GDPR, HIPAA, and RBI SAR compliance, which matters to regulated industries. Reviewers on G2 and Capterra rate it about 4.5 out of 5. They praise the journey builder and responsive customer success teams. The most common complaints are a steep learning curve for new users, slow creation of live segments, and reporting that is hard to customize.
