MailUp

5.3/10

Italian cloud email and SMS marketing platform for SMBs, agencies and high-volume senders, with unlimited contacts and speed-based pricing.

Data last updated November 2026 · Our methodology

Overview

MailUp is a cloud email marketing platform. It was founded in 2003 in Cremona, Italy, and has been owned by the Italian software group TeamSystem since 2023. It covers newsletters, SMS campaigns, landing pages and basic automation in one account. It also offers RCS messaging and an SMTP+ service for transactional email. Emails and landing pages are built in the same Beefree (BEE) drag-and-drop editor. The template library grows with each plan: about 50 on Starter, 100 on Plus and 200 on Premium. For segmentation there are filters, group overlap reports and separate 'Environments', which agencies can use to keep departments or clients apart. Pricing is unusual. Email editions (Starter, Plus, Premium and a custom Enterprise tier) include unlimited contacts and sends, and price is set mainly by edition and sending speed. Standard plans send about 2,000 emails per hour, and faster sending costs extra. Published prices disagree between sources: Starter is listed at anywhere from about 39 to 48 euro per month on annual billing, so buyers should confirm the current price with MailUp. SMS is paid separately through prepaid credits. Extra users, deliverability packs, the AI assistant and training are also paid add-ons. Native integrations are limited to roughly 20 to 24 connectors, including Magento, PrestaShop, WordPress, Salesforce and Microsoft Dynamics. Zapier and a REST API fill the gaps. MailUp suits European, and especially Italian, businesses that want GDPR-focused hosting in Italy and combined email and SMS. Its main weaknesses are a dated interface that is hard to learn, a simple automation builder with no visual canvas, slow standard sending speeds and weak Trustpilot ratings for customer service.

Who MailUp is best for

Good fit

  • Environments let agencies keep client accounts separate, and reviewers list agencies as a target user.

  • Mid-Market
    7/10

Reviewers say it fits established SMBs that send large volumes and combine email with SMS.

Less suited

  • It covers email, SMS and landing pages, but automation is basic and extra users cost more.

  • Unlimited contacts and an easy editor help, but reviewers say the price and learning curve are high for beginners.

  • Has e-commerce features and combined email and SMS, though it has few native integrations.

  • There is an Enterprise tier with a dedicated account manager, but public SOC or ISO attestations and uptime SLAs are limited.

  • Starter at about 39 to 48 euro a month, with extras cost on top.

  • SMTP+ transactional service exists, but the tool is marketing-focused.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Every email edition includes unlimited contacts and sends, so a growing list does not raise the price
  • Email and SMS can be combined in the same campaigns and automation flows
  • Emails and landing pages share the same Beefree drag-and-drop editor, with up to about 200 templates
  • Environments let agencies and multi-department companies keep accounts separate
  • Hosting in Italy with a strong GDPR focus suits EU buyers

Cons

  • Standard sending speed of about 2,000 emails per hour is slow for large sends unless you pay for faster sending
  • The automation builder has no visual canvas and limited conditions
  • Only about 20 to 24 native integrations, so many tools need Zapier
  • Many extras cost more, including SMS, extra users, deliverability tools and the AI assistant
  • Reviewers describe the interface as dated, and Trustpilot ratings point to customer-service complaints
  • There are no templates for forms and pop-ups
