Data last updated November 2026 · Our methodology

Overview

Todoist is a task manager built by Doist, a remote-first company. It began in 2007 as a hobby project by Amir Salihefendic. Tasks are organised into projects, sections, labels, and filters. You can add tasks by typing natural-language dates such as 'every Monday', and Todoist turns them into due dates and recurring schedules. Projects can be shown as a list, a board, a calendar, or a table. AI features such as Task Assist, Email Assist, Filter Assist, and Ramble voice capture break work into subtasks and capture tasks quickly. The Business plan adds a shared team workspace, team projects in folders, roles and permissions, shared templates, activity logs, and centralised billing. A Business team can have up to 1,000 members and 1,000 guests. Pricing has three tiers. Beginner is free with 5 personal projects and 5 MB uploads. Pro costs $7 a month, or $60 a year on annual billing, for one person. Business costs $10 per user per month, or $8 per user per month billed yearly. Todoist lists about 130 integrations, including Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Calendar, Jira, Zapier, Make, n8n, and AI connectors for ChatGPT and Claude. The main limitation is scope. Todoist has no task dependencies, Gantt charts, workload views, true start dates, or native time tracking. Reporting is mostly an activity history. Teams running complex, multi-stage projects usually move to Asana, ClickUp, or similar tools.
