Overview

Framer is a no-code website builder with a canvas that works much like Figma. Designers and marketing teams use it to build, host and publish marketing sites, landing pages and portfolios without developers. Each site comes with a built-in CMS, SEO tools, edge CDN hosting, site analytics, localization and AI tools for generating layouts and copy. Scroll and hover animations can be added without code, and React code components cover custom logic. It fits startups, agencies and in-house marketing teams that want sites that look good and load fast, and that can be changed without a release cycle. Pricing is per site, and editor seats are billed separately. The Free plan uses a Framer subdomain. Basic costs $10 a month and includes a custom domain, 30 pages and 1,000 CMS items. Pro costs $30 a month and includes 150 pages, 10 CMS collections, 10 editor seats, staging and branching. Enterprise is priced by quote and adds SSO, SCIM and an uptime guarantee. Paid add-ons include extra editors at $20 a month each, translation locales at $20 each, Advanced Hosting at $200, and Convert for A/B testing and funnels at $50 per 500,000 events. Extra pages, CMS items and bandwidth are also sold in blocks. The plugin marketplace and HubSpot form integrations help, but the ecosystem is smaller than Webflow's or WordPress's. Framer does not send email, SMS or webinars, and it has no native e-commerce cart. Reviewers' main complaint is that seats, locales and add-ons stack up quickly, so a team site can cost far more than the headline price.

Who Framer is best for

Good fit

  • Low-cost plans and fast visual publishing suit startups that need a polished marketing site quickly.

  • Design agencies use it to build client sites, with staging and per-site billing, though seat costs add up.

  • Designing is free and Basic costs $10 a month, which suits freelance designers building portfolios and client sites.

  • Marketers can edit pages and the CMS and run A/B tests without developers, though extra editor seats add cost.

  • It suits marketing sites and landing pages that change without release cycles, with A/B testing.

Less suited

  • An Enterprise plan offers SSO, SCIM and an uptime guarantee, but security certifications were not publicly confirmed.

  • Pro includes 10 editor seats, staging and branching.

  • It is affordable, but reviewers say it is not beginner-friendly and has no native store.

  • Portfolio sites can be built with built-in hosting.

  • React code components allow custom logic, but the tool is aimed at no-code designers.

  • Its Figma-like canvas suits product designers.

  • It has no native e-commerce.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Designers who know Figma pick up the canvas quickly and keep fine control over layout, typography and motion.
  • Hosting on an edge CDN, the CMS and SEO tools are built in, so a site goes live in one click with no separate deploy step.
  • Scroll, hover and transition animations can be built without code, which suits motion-heavy landing pages.
  • A/B testing and funnels are available through the Convert add-on, so marketers can run tests without a separate tool.
  • Designing is free, and paid hosting starts at $10 a month per site.

Cons

  • Costs stack up quickly: $20 per editor, $20 per locale, and paid blocks for pages, CMS items and bandwidth.
  • It has no native e-commerce. Selling products needs Shopify or embedded checkout tools such as Stripe.
  • The CMS is basic compared with WordPress, with tight collection limits on lower tiers.
  • Reviewers call it user-friendly but not beginner-friendly, and its plugin ecosystem is smaller than Webflow's or WordPress's.
  • Support for code and third-party plugin issues is limited and often redirected to the community.
