Overview

Dolibarr ERP CRM is an open-source PHP web application that combines CRM with ERP functions. On the CRM side it handles prospects and customers, opportunities, commercial proposals, sales orders, contracts and subscriptions, a help desk with tickets, a knowledge base, an agenda, emailing campaigns and surveys. Beyond sales it covers invoicing, bank reconciliation, double-entry accounting, stock, manufacturing, HR, projects, POS and a website CMS. Administrators switch modules on or off, so a team can start with contacts and quotes and add more later. A low-code Module Builder supports custom development. It best suits small businesses, freelancers and associations that want one inexpensive system for the full quote-to-invoice cycle and are willing to configure it themselves. The core software is free under the GPL and runs on Windows, Mac, Linux or Docker. Managed hosting comes from the official DoliCloud service and many partner hosts. DoliCloud Basic costs 14 euros per user per month and Premium costs 30 euros per month plus 15 euros per user. Paid extensions are sold through the DoliStore marketplace. Integrations come mainly through the built-in REST API, which includes a Swagger explorer, LDAP connectivity and DoliStore modules, rather than a large catalogue of native SaaS connectors. The main limitation is the experience: reviewers describe a dated interface, setup that takes time, weaker support ratings, and third-party modules that can break after core upgrades. There is also no native mobile app beyond the browser.

Who Dolibarr ERP CRM is best for

Good fit

  • Reviewers and listings consistently identify small businesses under 50 employees as the core user base, and the all-in-one modules suit them.

  • The free self-hosted core and the 14 euro single-user cloud plan make it inexpensive for solo operators who need quotes and invoices.

  • Projects, timesheets, proposals and invoicing in one system fit service firms.

  • Nonprofits
    7/10

The vendor names associations as a target, and the core is free and open source.

  • A low-cost modular suite that grows with the business, though it needs technical setup.

Less suited

  • It covers the cycle from prospect to proposal, order and invoice.

  • It includes stock and manufacturing modules within the ERP.

  • Mid-Market
    5/10

It can scale with modules, but reviewers say it is less suited to teams beyond about 50 users.

  • It includes a basic help desk with tickets and a knowledge base.

  • A REST API and a low-code Module Builder allow custom development.

  • It has POS and a website CMS, but few native connectors to popular SaaS tools.

  • It lacks the polish, support depth and ecosystem that large organisations expect.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • The core suite is free and open source, and self-hosting avoids vendor lock-in.
  • CRM covers the full cycle from prospect and opportunity to proposal, order and invoice in one system.
  • The modular design lets teams enable only the modules they need, and the Module Builder supports low-code customization.
  • Official cloud hosting is inexpensive at 14 euros per user per month and includes daily backups and SSH and database access.
  • A REST API with a Swagger explorer allows custom integrations.

Cons

  • Reviewers describe the interface as dated and not very attractive.
  • Support ratings are the weakest category on Capterra and GetApp, at about 3.7 out of 5.
  • Configuration takes time, and third-party modules can break after core upgrades.
  • There are few native connectors to popular SaaS tools and no native mobile app, so mobile use is through the browser.
  • Defaults are EU-centric, and some English users report translation issues.
