Data last updated November 2026 · Our methodology
Overview
Squarespace is a hosted website builder that combines templates, a drag-and-drop editor, online selling, SEO tools and analytics in one subscription. Its marketing tools include sign-up forms, discounts, and an Email Campaigns add-on that sends newsletters from inside the Squarespace dashboard using site content such as blog posts and products. It suits small businesses, freelancers and creatives who want a well-designed site and simple marketing in one place. It is a weaker fit for marketing teams that need complex campaigns. Website plans are Basic, Core, Plus and Advanced. In the US, a September 2026 review lists them at $25, $39, $65 and $139 a month on monthly billing, or $19, $29, $49 and $99 a month on annual billing. Plus is only sold where Squarespace Payments is available. Higher plans remove transaction fees and add code injection, advanced analytics, payment plans and Google Shopping listings. Email Campaigns is priced separately by monthly sending volume, from $12 a month for 500 emails to $169 a month for 500,000 emails, with no cap on list size and about 30% off on annual billing. There is a 14-day free trial and no free plan. Core and higher plans include custom CSS and JavaScript and a free first year of Google Workspace. The main limitation for marketers is email depth. Reviewers report no A/B testing, segmentation by tag only, and automations limited to single follow-up emails triggered by a sign-up, purchase or form submission. Squarespace also has no native CRM.
Our Rating
Who Squarespace is best for
Good fit
One subscription covers the website, store, basic marketing and support.
Templates and the drag-and-drop editor let one person launch a polished site quickly.
Less suited
Fast to launch, but limited email automation and no CRM mean extra tools as the company grows.
Email has no A/B testing and only single-step automations.
Plans and tooling are built for small sites, not complex organisations.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Email Campaigns sits inside the site dashboard and can pull in blog posts and products, so there is no separate tool to connect.
- Email pricing is based on sends, not subscribers, which makes large lists that receive occasional newsletters cheap to host.
- The vendor pricing page lists unlimited bandwidth, unlimited storage, SSL and 24/7 support on every plan.
- Core and higher plans remove the store transaction fee and add code injection for extra customisation.
- There is a 14-day free trial that needs no credit card.
Cons
- Email Campaigns has no A/B testing of subject lines or content.
- Email segmentation only works with tags, without and/or conditions.
- Automations are single follow-up emails triggered by a sign-up, purchase or form submission, with no multi-step drips.
- There is no native CRM, so lead tracking needs third-party tools.
- Prices rose in 2025 and again in the US in July 2026, and Email Campaigns is billed on top of the website plan.
