Overview
Selectel is a Russian IT infrastructure provider that has been operating since about 2007 to 2008. It sells more than 50 products. These include bare-metal and GPU dedicated servers, cheap VDS, cloud servers, managed Kubernetes, managed databases, S3-compatible object storage, CDN, DNS hosting, load balancers and a VMware-based public and private cloud. It also offers an AI platform with inference and an ML platform, plus security services such as firewalls, DDoS mitigation and certified environments. It runs its own data centers in Moscow and St. Petersburg plus partner sites. Its documentation lists six regions in total: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Tashkent, Almaty and Nairobi. Its main customers are companies that need infrastructure hosted in Russia and compliant with the 152-FZ personal data law. Selectel holds FSTEC and FSB licences as well as PCI DSS, ISO 27001 and SOC 2 attestations. Prices are pay-as-you-go in rubles, and VDS is billed hourly. Starting prices listed on the homepage are about 800 RUB a month for desktop-CPU dedicated servers, 1,000 RUB for cloud servers, 2,300 RUB for managed Kubernetes and 4,800 RUB for managed databases. Object storage is priced by usage and request count, and enterprise services such as private cloud are quoted on request. For automation there is an API and Terraform support, and backups can run through Veeam and Cyberprotect integrations. The main limitation is the narrow footprint. Almost all capacity is in Russia and Central Asia, prices are in rubles, and there is little independent English-language review coverage. That makes Selectel a poor fit for buyers who need hosting in Western regions or need to avoid exposure to sanctions.

The catalogue covers dedicated servers, colocation, backup and DR, which IT teams can use to run their infrastructure.
Less suited
VDS from about 200 RUB a month is cheap, but the product is mainly relevant to businesses operating in Russia.
