Overview
Open Telekom Cloud is Deutsche Telekom's public cloud, run by T-Systems and now being renamed T Cloud Public. It is built on OpenStack and offers virtual machines, virtual private networking, object storage, relational databases, managed Kubernetes (CCE), serverless functions (FunctionGraph), backup (CBR) and Anti-DDoS. Data centers are in Germany and the Netherlands, and a separate T Cloud Switzerland offering has three availability zones. The platform is aimed at European organisations that need data sovereignty and regulatory compliance. It holds BSI C5, ISO 27001, ISO 27018 and SOC certifications, and explicitly supports DORA and NIS2, which makes it a good fit for public sector, healthcare and financial services customers. Pricing is pay-per-use with monthly invoicing. Reserved packages are available through the eShop, and a free financial dashboard and price calculator help with cost tracking. New customers receive a 250 euro starting credit, and the 24/7 expert hotline and email support are included in the price. On the tooling side, there is an official Terraform provider, a Python SDK and OpenStack-compatible APIs. The main limitation is breadth. Reviewers estimate it has about 80 percent of AWS's feature set. It also has only two main regions, a console that trails developer-focused clouds, and costs for simple compute that run higher than budget providers such as Hetzner.
