Hivelocity

6.6/10

Tampa-based provider of bare metal dedicated servers, VPS, colocation and private cloud for businesses that need global, API-driven infrastructure.

Data last updated November 2026 · Our methodology

Overview

Hivelocity is a US infrastructure provider headquartered in Tampa, Florida. Its main business is bare metal dedicated servers, offered as instant-deploy configurations or custom builds with up to four processors, 1,000GB of RAM and 100 drives. It also sells shared-core VPS and dedicated-core VDS plans, colocation, private cloud built on VMware Cloud Director, and managed services for Linux, Windows and cPanel servers. The company says it has more than 40 data center locations across six continents. Every bandwidth-enabled service includes automatic Layer 3 and 4 DDoS mitigation, a 99.99% uptime SLA and at least 10TB of free outbound transfer. Developers and IT teams can provision servers through a REST API and a Terraform provider. Self-service VLANs, IPMI, Anycast and free DNS management are included. Pricing is a flat monthly fee per server. Dedicated servers started at $97 per month for an Intel E-2236 when checked, and promotions such as 35% lifetime discounts appear regularly. VPS plans start at $10 per month and VDS plans at $21. Extras are priced separately: additional IPs cost $2.50 each per month, block storage is about $0.075 per GB per month, and third-party software installation costs $100 without a managed plan. The main drawbacks are that VPS billing is monthly rather than hourly, which makes it a poor fit for short-lived cloud workloads, and that no managed Kubernetes, serverless or managed database layer appeared in the research. Some users also report strict abuse handling and uneven support quality.

  • Global bare metal with included DDoS protection and generous bandwidth suits SaaS platforms.

Less suited

  • VPS plans start at $10, but the platform assumes server administration skills.
