Overview
Elastx is a Stockholm-based cloud provider, founded in 2012, that runs its public cloud from three availability zones in the Stockholm region. Its core is an OpenStack infrastructure service for virtual machines, block storage and Swift object storage, which stores objects redundantly across all three sites. On top of this it sells managed Kubernetes, a Virtuozzo platform-as-a-service, managed MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, MSSQL and Valkey databases, GPU hosting with cards such as the L4, L40S and A100, a Varnish-based CDN, VPN, private connectivity, colocation and a recovery data vault. The main selling point is digital sovereignty: data stays in Sweden under Swedish and EU jurisdiction, and the company holds ISO 27001, 27017, 27018 and 14001 certifications. That makes it a fit for Swedish and Nordic organisations in regulated sectors such as healthcare, finance and the public sector, and for SaaS companies whose customers require EU-only hosting. Pricing is pay as you go in SEK, excluding VAT, with compute and databases billed by the hour. Discounts are available for one- or three-year commitments and through volume tiers. 24/7 support, DDoS protection, threat intelligence and storage encryption are included at no extra charge. A third-party price tracker puts a small 1 vCPU VM at about 27 USD a month. Because it uses standard OpenStack and Kubernetes APIs, existing tooling works without proprietary layers. The main limitations are that it has only one region, costs more than hyperscalers or budget VPS hosts, and reportedly requires a support request to create Kubernetes clusters. It also has very few public user reviews.
