Overview

North is Cohere's workspace for enterprise AI agents. It was announced in early access in January 2025 and became generally available in August 2025. It brings together Cohere's generative models, multimodal search through the Compass system, and agents that can act on internal company knowledge. Employees can ask questions grounded in company documents and get cited answers. They can also generate summaries, tables, charts and app-like outputs such as decks and dashboards, and build automations in natural language. The current version, branded North 2, adds reusable skills, shared libraries, memory, guardrails and an admin console. North's main differentiator is deployment: it can run in a customer's own VPC, on-premises, in air-gapped environments, or through Cohere's Model Vault inference platform. That makes it best suited to regulated industries such as banking, government, healthcare and legal. Royal Bank of Canada co-developed a banking edition, and customers named by Cohere or in press coverage include Dell, LG CNS, Fujitsu, Bell and Ensemble Health Partners. Pricing is not published. Cohere quotes custom enterprise pricing, and one third-party aggregator says contracts are annual and start around 100,000 dollars a year, though Cohere has not confirmed that figure. North connects to existing tools through APIs and built-in connectors, but its integration ecosystem is smaller than those of Microsoft Copilot or Google's agent tools. Setup and data integration also take real effort, which makes it a poor fit for small teams.
