Overview
Fin is an AI customer service agent built by Intercom. It answers customer questions from a company's help content and other knowledge sources, and it can run multi-step Procedures such as updating accounts, processing refunds or troubleshooting. It reaches business systems through APIs, Data Connectors and MCP. Fin works on chat, email, voice, Slack and social channels in dozens of languages. Teams can test changes with simulations and regression tests before they go live, and an Insights and QA layer reports trends and recommends improvements. Fin runs natively in Intercom's helpdesk and can also sit on top of Zendesk, Salesforce, HubSpot or Freshdesk. Intercom says it averages a 76% resolution rate across more than 12,000 customers. Pricing is based on outcomes. Each resolution, procedure handoff, disqualification or self-serve routing costs $0.99, and each sales qualification costs $9.99. On a third-party helpdesk there is a minimum of 50 outcomes per month. Inside Intercom, Fin adds a fee of at least $19 per helpdesk seat per month. Paid extras include a Pro add-on from $100 per month and a Copilot add-on for Salesforce at $35 per user per month. Fin Voice is priced on request, and a 14-day free trial is available. Fin suits mid-market and enterprise support teams with large ticket volumes and well-maintained help content. Its main drawback is cost predictability. Because spend rises with every resolved conversation and there is no published cap, reviewers report surprise bills during traffic spikes. Fin's answers also depend on the quality of the knowledge base it draws from.

Pros & Cons

- Intercom reports a 76% average resolution rate across more than 12,000 customers, and G2 reviewers praise how quick and human-sounding its answers are.
- It runs on existing helpdesks such as Zendesk, Salesforce, HubSpot and Freshdesk, so teams do not have to move to Intercom.
- Its compliance list is broad: SOC 2, ISO 27001, ISO 42001, ISO 27701 and HIPAA, plus SSO, SCIM and data hosting in the US, EU or Australia.
- Simulations and regression tests let teams check configuration changes before they go live.
- There are no setup or platform fees, and the 14-day trial needs no credit card.
Cons
- Per-outcome billing makes monthly costs hard to predict, and G2 reviewers report unexpected bills during volume spikes.
- Inside Intercom, the per-seat helpdesk fees come on top of the outcome charges.
- Fin can pull the wrong article when knowledge base topics overlap, so answer quality depends on well-kept help content.
- A competitor's review says advanced Procedures and data connectors can take weeks to set up and may need technical skills.
- Some reviewers complain about the responsiveness of Intercom's own customer support.
