Overview
Clarity, formerly CA Clarity PPM, is Broadcom's strategic portfolio and project management platform, sold under the ValueOps brand next to Rally and ConnectALL. It is built for PMOs and finance-led governance in large, often regulated organizations such as banks, telecoms and government agencies. Its core areas are roadmaps and top-down planning, investment hierarchies, resource and capacity planning, timesheets that feed cost and chargeback figures, and financial controls including multi-currency tracking and CapEx/OpEx categorization. Project teams get a task Gantt and timeline view, grids, a board view and calendar for to-dos, checklists and conversations on objects. Blueprints and business rules let administrators configure screens and validation. Clarity runs on premises under a perpetual license with annual maintenance, or as a SaaS subscription. Broadcom publishes no list prices. Deals are negotiated, and reviewers mention licensing complexity and price increases since Broadcom bought CA. Clarity connects to Rally and other tools through ConnectALL and the ValueOps platform, and partner connectors exist for Jira. Users still describe Jira and SAP integration as hard work. The biggest drawback is the weight of the platform. Implementations can take months and often need consultants. Reviewers call the interface and the Jaspersoft-based reporting hard to use, so Clarity rarely makes sense for small teams.
