Overview
Amazon Q Business is the AWS generative AI assistant for employees. It indexes company content from connectors such as SharePoint, S3, Salesforce, Jira, ServiceNow and Slack, then answers questions with citations and respects each user's existing permissions. AWS now calls Amazon Quick Suite, generally available since October 2025, the next evolution of Q Business. Quick Suite brings chat, deep research, Quick Sight business intelligence and Quick Automate workflows into one workspace, and its agents can act in apps, for example by creating Jira tickets or ServiceNow incidents. Existing Q Business customers can stay on their current service or point their Q index at Quick Suite. Pricing has two layers. Classic Q Business costs $3 per user per month for Lite or $20 for Pro, plus hourly index capacity charges that run until the index is deleted. Quick Suite has Free, Plus and Max plans for individuals and teams. Its organization plans are Essentials at $3, Professional at $20 and Enterprise at $40 per user per month, plus a $250 monthly account infrastructure fee and metered agent-hour and storage overages. The product suits AWS-centric mid-size and large organizations whose knowledge is scattered across many systems and whose identity management is mature. Its main limitation is cost and setup complexity. Total spend goes well beyond the seat price, and answer quality depends on clean connectors and permissions. Reported accuracy problems in the first year also hurt confidence, though Amazon says they have been addressed.
Our Rating
Who Amazon Q Business / Quick Suite is best for
Good fit
Permission-aware retrieval, many enterprise connectors and AWS identity integration are built for large organizations.
Low per-seat tiers make it workable, but the $250 account fee and index costs add overhead.
Less suited
Reviewers say small teams without much scattered knowledge pay for capacity they do not need.
Individual and team plans exist, but the full value depends on AWS setup and identity plumbing.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Answers respect existing document permissions and cite their sources, which is critical for enterprise search.
- Agents can act in tools such as Jira and ServiceNow, not just answer questions.
- Combines chat, deep research, Quick Sight BI and workflow automation under one subscription.
- AWS states that queries and customer data are not used to train models.
- Low-cost $3 entry tiers allow broad rollout across a workforce.
- Generous trials: 60 days for up to 50 Q Business users, or 30 days for up to 25 Quick Suite users with no credit card required.
Cons
- Total cost goes well beyond seats: Q Business index hours bill until deleted, and Quick Suite adds a $250 monthly account fee and agent-hour overages.
- Value depends heavily on connector configuration, identity setup and content hygiene.
- Internal Amazon documents reported in 2025 said Q Business lagged rivals on accuracy, especially with tables and spreadsheets; Amazon says the problems were fixed.
- Overlapping product names and pricing models make purchasing confusing.
- Full Quick Suite capabilities launched in only four AWS Regions.
